Two Dorset men deny animal cruelty and pornography charges
A MAN had videos of people having sex with a chicken and a trout on his phone when he was arrested for an unrelated offence, a court heard.
Christopher Mills, 37, of Loop Farm Road, Lytchett Matravers, appeared at Poole Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, September 2, charged with possessing extreme pornography showing sex or oral sex with a live or dead animal.
Mills and two others were sent postal requisitions to appear in court over animal abuse allegations.
CPS prosecutor Tara Olney told the court that police allegedly found videos of people having sex with a live chicken and a trout on Mills’s phone when they arrested him over an unrelated offence on February 14, 2024.
Mark Cooper, 30, of no fixed abode, also appeared in court charged with causing unnecessary suffering to a protected animal.
The court heard that Cooper caused unnecessary suffering to a fox by leaving it trapped on November 15, 2023.
Cooper allegedly let a dog attack the fox before stabbing it.
Ms Olney said Cooper’s alleged “sadistic behaviour” caused the fox prolonged suffering.
Mills and Cooper both denied the charges.
A third defendant, Shane Chapman, was due to appear but was unavailable because he was on holiday.
Chapman, 35, of Bingham Road, Verwood, is charged alongside Cooper with causing unnecessary suffering to a protected animal on November 15, 2023. He is also charged with possessing extreme pornography showing sex or oral sex with a dog, horse or donkey.
Chapman’s case was adjourned.
The magistrates said the cases were “more suitable” for a crown court.
The trials of Mills and Cooper at Bournemouth Crown Court were adjourned until Thursday, October 1.
