Neil Pinkerton partied in Glasgow with loyalist killer and bank robber on shame weekend where far right protest witnessed Nazi salutes and 15 arrests
Neil Pinkerton was among a band of Northern Irish men to travel to Scotland on July 25 to join an anti-immigration event that was badged “Protect Our Women and Children”.
He joined close friends Mark Sinclair, a former UVF bank robber, and sectarian killer Glen Kane, in Glasgow on a weekend of shame when masked figures made Nazi salutes and shouted “get then out”.
Pinkerton can today be revealed as an “urban hunter” who glories in the killing of wild animals with dogs.
He has posted videos and photos of his own dogs being covered in blood after vicious underground fights with foxes, which appeared to have been slaughtered for fun.
Pinkerton and his mates shared a graphic video of one hunt and sickening images of both the dead fox and his bleeding dog.
He captioned his prize photo: “One’s going to feel this in the morning, one’s not”.
Northern Ireland is the only part of the United Kingdom where hunting with dogs is still legal – although it is not legal to cause animals unnecessary suffering.
Pinkerton was a leader of street vigilante group that patrolled parts of East Belfast, in shameful scenes that are being mirrored in Glasgow.
Gangs claim to be protecting women and homeless people – but in both cities their actions have been focused on seeking out immigrants, some of who have been harassed.
Campaigners in Northern Ireland claim Pinkerton has been one of the most visible agitators in Belfast, appearing on the scene at the “pogrom” that followed the alleged assault of a white man by an immigrant on June 8 this year.
The violent gatherings in West Belfast, which led to immigrant families being burnt out of their homes, sparked a wave of similar protests, including several in Glasgow which were based on false information.
A spokesperson for the End Deportations Belfast group, which has closely monitored the city’s rising far right activity, said: “Neil Pinkerton is a violent racist who terrorised migrant and POC communities in Belfast for simply existing, under the guise of vigilantism.
“He has willingly posted photos of his own animal cruelty online, like some badge of honour.
“The reality with his is that he has involved himself in violence, like so many of those we find now joining the far right cause, finding victims and spreading fear in communities.”
The spokesperson said Pinkerton was viewed by many as a “useful idiot” for putting himself at the front of direct intimidation of refugees.
They said: “He is not someone you can write off as a useful idiot because he will consistently come back for more, spreading all the lies and exaggerations that allow the racism we see now to flourish.
“There is no doubt that we are seeing a lot of the orchestrated scaremongering we have seen in Northern Ireland being exported to Scotland.”
In Northern Ireland many violent Loyalist figures who were associated with the Troubles have been drawn to the cause of anti-immigration.
Mohammed Asif, of Stand Up to Racism, said the rise of vigilante groups is a major threat to Scotland.
He said: “It is clear that there are people who wish to promote and establish such groups, where the main intention is to intimidate immigrants or groups who are already marginalised. they want to spread fear and state their claim to be more entitled and superior to the people they seek out to abuse.
“There are laws in place to stop people being harassed but I believe that a specific charge should be created to ban the formation of groups that conduct themselves in this way.
“We absolutely don’t want to see people coming over from Ireland or anywhere else to establish such groups.”
The Daily Record previously told of the prominent role of Mark Sinclair, 56, and Glen Kane, 60, in inflaming divisions after the Glasgow Green disturbances on July 25, which saw 15 arrest s on the day.
Both were photographed with Pinkerton – known as Pinky – on a boozy night out in Glasgow, where they partied with friends on the city, where they are familiar with some sections of the Rangers support.
Kane wore a “Stop the Boats” t-shirt on the night out.
Sinclair is a self-confessed former member of the UVF loyalist terrorist organisation, from the Shankill area of west Belfast.
In 2003, when Sinclair was jailed for 18 years for robbing three Clydesdale Bank branches banks in Troon, Stewarton and Dalbeattie, it was claimed the raids were linked to paramilitary activities in Northern Ireland.
On social media Sinclair claims his mission is to raise awareness in his own country of the extreme damage done to Scotland by multiculturalism.
Kane, 60, became notorious after the sectarian killing of Catholic man Kieran Abram during a sectarian riot in Belfast in July 1992. He was jailed for nine years for manslaughter after being part of the Loyalist mob.
Now known as Mr X on social media, Kane, of Belfast, has reinvented himself as a far-right campaigner and has sported Stop the Boats slogans on his clothing at events.
He has admitted to being a former member of the far-right British National Party (BNP).
Last August, Neil Pinkerton, 38, was named in the Belfast Telegraph as a leader of the “East Belfast First Division” – a vigilante-style group that patrolled streets and put their grim videos on Tok-Tok.
The social media site has since banned them and the Police Service of Northern Ireland branded the group’s motivation as “racism, pure and simple”.
Similar patrols have now been launched in Glasgow, including the Scots Active night patrol, which sees men wander around making videos about safety, wearing stab-proof vests.
Oil rig worker Pinkerton is renowned for wearing chunky gold jewellery and he was mocked after a man wearing a mask – and also sporting and identical gold bracelet – was pictured with notorious English far right figure Daniel Thomas – aka Danny Tommo in Belfast. The outline of a bushy beard could also be seen through the mask.
The photo showed the two men in the foreground while buildings smouldered behind, in the aftermath of a “pogrom” in June that saw migrant families burnt out of their homes.
HMOs were attacked and set ablaze and neighbourhoods terrorised after a brutal attack on a white man, which led to charges against a migrant male.
In Scotland, demonstrations in places like Glasgow, Aberdeen, Perth and Falkirk have centred on “asylum hotels” but in several instances local anger has been inflamed by claims later found out top be false.
Actual crimes by immigrants have given rise to fury in some quarters but there is no clear evidence that rapes and child abuse have increased due to immigration.
On June 9 this year riots broke out across Belfast following a stabbing attack allegedly committed by an African man the previous evening. Further protests were reported across Northern Ireland and in Glasgow and Edinburgh.
A number of people were made homeless after their properties were attacked and set fire to by rioters going door-to-door, attempting to identify houses occupied by immigrants.
This led to descriptions of events as “pogroms” – casting chilling reflections of racial atrocities committed in Hitler’s Germany.
The anti-immigration protests that have ensued have generally attracted more counter protestors.
