A SUSPECT has been named by the courts after being charged with offences relating to hare coursing.
Hare coursing is the illegal, competitive pursuit of live hares using sighthounds like greyhounds or whippets.
A man is due to face charges over the allegations, reported to have been committed in Burtonwood, before the magistrates’ court.
Richard Goulding, aged 27 and of Mardale Lawn in Netherley, Liverpool, has been charged with two offences contrary to the Police, Crime, Sentencing, and Courts Act 2022.
They are trespass with intent to search for or pursue hares with dogs, and being equipped for searching for or pursuing hares with dogs.
Both of the charges are alleged to have been committed in the vicinity of Clay Lane in Burtonwood on New Year’s Eve.
It is alleged that, on December 31, the defendant was witnessed to be trespassing on a farm and in possession of a dog believed to be used in connection with the searching of hares or rabbits.
Goulding is due to make a first appearance in relation to the allegations before Warrington Magistrates’ Court today, Monday.
