Three men have been sentenced for hare coursing offences after they were caught hiding in bushes by a police helicopter.
The trio were arrested on October 30 last year after they were spotted by a police helicopter hiding in bushes near Uffcott with long dogs, which includes any sighthounds.
At Swindon Youth Court on March 26, 31-year-old Rudy Jones, of Adams Road in Monkton, 25-year-old Aaron Jones, of Vetch Close in Pembroke, and 31-year-old Tommy-Lee Jones, of Long Mains in Monkton were ordered to pay £385 each.
The court heard that police had received reports of vehicles using lamps on private land before an eyewitness lost sight of them.
A police helicopter was deployed and discovered an abandoned vehicle, which officers found to still be warm, in some woodland.
After a local sighted three men running nearby, the helicopter located the suspects in some bushes and directed other officers to the area.
All three were charged with going equipped for hare coursing after they were arrested, interviewed, and bailed.

Love these reports. Such easy candidates. Ever hear of similar vigilance with fox hunters?
