Illegal hare coursing has been taking place near Malpas say police.
Cheshire Police’s Rural Crime Team have confirmed they have had reports of hare coursing at three sites including Tislton.
Hare coursing is a form of hunting that involves the pursuit of hares with greyhounds and other sighthounds who chase down the hare to kill it.
The practice was banned in England and Wales by the Hunting Act 2004.
Cheshire Police confirmed the recent instances in Tilston, Caldecott Green and Crewe-By-Farndon have seen livestock getting onto road.
A spokesperson for Cheshire Police said: “Unfortunately we have had multiple reports of Hare Coursing around the area of Caldecott Green, Crewe-By-Farndon and Tilston. We are appealing for local residents and the farming community to be vigilant and report any sightings of unusual activity.
“As grass and crops are starting to grow offering the hares vital cover the reports we have received are on fields that have been recently grazed and this has resulted in livestock getting onto roads.
“We are appealing to landowners to make sure gates are locked and to make regular checks on livestock.
“We have increased our patrols in the area and have installed signage.”
