Wildlife crime in Manchester

𝗜𝗳 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗯𝗮𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗶𝗻/𝗮𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗵𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗽𝗹𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗲 𝘀𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗽𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗶𝗻 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗹𝗼𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗙𝗮𝗰𝗲𝗯𝗼𝗼𝗸 𝗴𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗽!

We are aware of multiple reports of foxes and badgers being targeted within Manchester and actively investigating this, but we need your help to do this.

If you see anything suspicious such as:

People acting odd in woodlands with “long dogs” such as lurchers, bull lurchers, whippets and salukis, or “earth dogs” such as patterdales, Jack Russell’s, Lakeland terriers.

Disturbed setts and earths, or dug out pits such as the ones pictured.

Dogs of the breeds above with facial scarring and injuries.

Dead foxes/badgers which may have been killed in suspicious circumstances

Get in touch with us directly with as much information as possible (photos, names, car regs, exact locations, times/dates) and we will ensure any information is treated with absolute confidentially.

If you come across injured wildlife it’s absolutely vital that you get in touch with a wildlife organisation to attend and help. We have seen several instances recently where people have tried to move wildlife themselves or called in charities that do not deal with wildlife which shows animals mishandled and caused additional stress, where a suitable rescue could have attended.

Foxes Sick or injured foxes should be reported to The Fox Rescuers. Any deceased foxes which appear suspicious please contact Manchester Sabs.

Badgers Sick, injured or deceased badgers including road fatalities and disturbed badger setts should be reported to South Manchester Badger Group
