Matthew Wilkinson, huntsman for the Jed Forest Hunt, who we focussed on over the last hunting season, has been arrested and charged with multiple hunting offences under the new Hunting with Dogs (Scotland) Act 2023.
This arrest is the first of its kind since the new Act became law in October 2023. The new law carries much stronger sentencing guidelines than the flawed 2002 Act.
David Every from the Berwickshire Hunt has also been questioned by police in regards to illegal hunting under the new law.
