Fitzwilliam huntsman pleads guilty in record time

11th May 2023

Message from Beds and Bucks Hunt Sabs

This morning at Peterborough Magistrates, Shaun Parish pleaded guilty to illegal fox hunting under section 1 of the Hunting Act.

His guilty plea was entered half an hour before court had started session and before the court was presented with the irrefutable video evidence against him.

On the 5th March 2022, the Peterborough based hunt were caught digging out and flushing a fox to the hounds, which was then chased in full view of long range video cameras, across a field.

The fox ran directly in front of Fitzwilliam Hunt riders and Masters with Shaun Parish (huntsman) and Jake Whalley (whipper-in) riding in pursuit.

This is a full admission that the Fitzwilliam Hunt’s standard routine, is to hunt illegally.

Hunting in 2023 is crumbling and even its most staunch supporters can no longer defend what they do.

In a joint statement from Peterborough and Beds & Bucks Hunt Sab groups, a spokesperson said:

“We are obviously hugely pleased with this outcome. The strength of the evidence supplied in this case meant that the Fitzwilliam had no defence to offer. The Fitzwilliam are fast becoming one of the most convicted hunts in the country and it’s clear to everybody they are simply a criminal gang”.

  1. This is very good news well done to the sabs involved. Time this government took notice and brought in a law banning ALL hunting and long prison sentences if anybody is caught illegally hunting.
