A man has confessed to committing animal cruelty, following fox hunting an incident in the Coggeshall area. The animal abuse, which is thought to have happened on December 4, was reported to Essex Police.
Paul O’Shea, 49, of Mount Bures, admitted hunting a wild mammal with dogs – an offence under the Hunting Act 2004 – and causing unnecessary suffering to a protected animal – an offence under the Animal Welfare Act 2006. He appeared at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court on June 22. O’Shea will be sentenced at the same court on August 1.
A 16-year-old girl from Mount Bures had also been charged with hunting a wild animal with dogs in relation to the incident. Her case has been discontinued.
Essex Police’s Rural Engagement Team launched an investigation into the incident. Officers probe and help to prevent crimes such as animal cruelty, hare coursing, agricultural theft and fly-tipping.
They also liaise with partner agencies to take enforcement action against those who breach legislation and to tackle specific rural issues through proactive operations.

AS I have said many times before and will keep saying this till something is done about this scum, lock the bastards up for at least 5 years with no early release, all they get is ridiculous fines and a slap on the wrist well that is not enough, they are breaking the law, maybe we should all go out and break the law and see what happens, don’t tax your car etc etc. PRISON is the only way to punish this filthy scum that hunt and shoot.
