Message from Sheffield Hunt Sabs
21st October 2020
On New Year’s Day this year the Barlow Hunt met at The Gate Inn, Cutthorpe near Chesterfield.
With protesters’ numbers matching those of supporters and a large sab presence from several groups, the hunt soon realised that they wouldn’t be sating their appetite for the blood of some innocent fox.
This led to various members of the hunt threatening and attacking sabs whilst the many police in attendance stood by and did nothing.
After the day was over and the hunt had reluctantly given up, several complaints were made to the cops and they were given our footage.

Move forward 10 months and the badger trapping ex Master of the Barlow Hunt Chris White, pleaded guilty at Chesterfield Justice Centre to ‘using threatening / abusive / insulting words / behaviour to cause harassment / alarm / distress.
He was sentenced to a conditional discharge for 12 months and ordered to pay £106 in court costs.
The Barlow Hunt are a tiny, locally unpopular and struggling hunt, who are holding on by the skin of their teeth simply because they have a Master who is an ex Superintendent of South Yorkshire Police and her husband is a retired judge.
Eventually Derbyshire Police and Derbyshire Rural Crime Team will open their eyes and decide to be on the right side of history. Unfortunately as usual it will probably take a while!
