From the Animal Welfare Party Cheshire East – https://www.facebook.com/AWPCheshireEast/
Cars leaving Alsager Asda car park at 9am, or meet us there – the Cheshire Hounds will be holding their Boxing Day meet leaving from The Swan, High Street, Tarporley CW6 0AG; we’ll be there from 10am along with Cheshire Against The Hunt, Cheshire Against Blood Sports and other groups. Please bring warm clothes and banners.
Also, looking ahead to New Year’s Day, our Animal Welfare Party peaceful protest will be against the notorious Meynell & South Staffordshire Hunt.
The protest is at Market Place, Uttoxeter ST14 8HN from 10am; some lifts available from Alsager leaving at 9, message us if needed.
These so-called ‘trail’ hunts routinely go out into the countryside to kill foxes and fox cubs, and very recently the Meynell hounds ran amok on a local alpaca farm, with resulting alpaca injuries and deaths.
Hunting foxes with dogs was banned in 2004 and it was one of the most popular pieces of legislation ever seen in this country. Loopholes in the hunting act, however, see ‘trail’ hunts routinely flout the law with regard to foxes, but there are also many other wildlife casualties.
We need to #StrengthenTheBan but also keep raising public awareness around what really goes on in the murky world of hunting. Please join us if you can!
