Man charged over Grizedale red kite deaths

A man has been charged in connection with the poisoning and shooting of red kites in south Cumbria.

If follows an investigation into a number of incidents near Ulverston involving the birds in the past year.

Allan Armistead, 74 from Oxen Park, near Ulverston, will appear at Furness Magistrates’ Court on 6 December.

He faces five offences under the Firearms Act and 10 offences under the Control of Pesticides and Food and Environmental Protection Acts.

Red kites, which are protected under the Wildlife Act, were re-introduced into Grizedale Forest in 2010, after an absence of 160 years.

  1. This evil bastard should be poisoned and left to die in agony, also he should be banned from ever going near ANY wild life ever again and have his fire arms taken off him for good.
